blades, Levallois points, and bifaces, of which the handaxes are
sometimes rather coarsely flaked (Fig. 5), often resulting in
patches of cortex remaining, particularly at butt ends. Also
present are convergent or nosed scrapers that, together with the
crude largish bifaces, are taken to be sufficiently distinctive to
warrant the identification of a late stage of the Fauresmith; incised slabs that
often feature well-spaced parallel curved lines; haematite pigment pieces
